Summer Lunch 2009
Choir members enjoyed a summer party in the grounds of vice-chairman Carlisle Scott. Following an enjoyable lunch, members and friends relaxed, chatted and walked around Carlisle’s well maintained gardens near Berriew. Some photos have been added so take a look in the photo gallery.
During May and June, the choir gave concerts in Westbury, Hope Church – Newtown, Llandyssil Church and Clun Church as well as entertaining guests at Maryann Pryce’s wedding in Aberbechan. The choir are having a small summer break before the Autumn season starts.
Summer Tour 2009
The Choir enjoyed a weekend tour and concert in Devon this year. While staying in Plymouth on the weekend of 14th June, a concert was held in the village of Brixton, some 3 miles outside Plymouth. The concert was joined by local ladies choir “Girls Night Out”. The 2 choirs entertained a ‘jam packed’ church, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The singing continued afterwards in the local club where both choirs sang a few more of their favourites.
The weather during the weekend was sunny and warm (unlike the rest of the summer!) and lot of fun was had by all. The long awaited photographs are now in the Photo gallery.
Annual Dinner 2009
The choir held its Annual Dinner under the auspices of Newtown Rugby Club on Saturday 28th Febraury. Members and friends enjoyed a sumptious meal followed by “Caberet” entertainment provided by various members of the Newtown and Orthopaedic choirs. The entertainment was brilliantly compered by Gerald Jones. Members agreed with Choir Chairman, Meurig Jones, when in his vote of thanks said it was one of the best functions they had organised. He thanked the caterers and officials of the rugby club for their co-operation. Dai Davies responded on behalf of the Club. All present at the dinner (including Cinderella) said it had been “Alright “.
