Christine Roberts: Musical Director:
Christine has been the Musical Director of the Choir since 2001. Prior to this she was the conductor of the Newtown Operatic Society for three years. Born in Shrewsbury, she has been associated with music from an early age. She has sung at many Eisteddfodau and Musical Festivals, Isobel Bailey awarding her the Silver Rose Bowl at Wolverhampton.
She has been soloist with various Male Voice Choirs including a tour of Germany with the Shrewsbury Choir. She sang on S.A.B.C. whilst living in South Africa and was a member of the Durban Opera Company.
Peg Morris: Accompanist:
Peg has been associated with choirs all her life, starting as a teenager with the old Montgomery Music Festival, singing under the baton of Sir John Barbirolli and Reginald Jacques.
She was also a long term member of Llanbrynmair Mixed Choir. She taught Music and Geography at Kidsgrove Secondary Girls School in Stoke-on Trent before her marriage to Meirion, who for many years was a member of the Newtown and District Male Voice Choir. After raising her family of four, Peg returned to teaching, this time in primary school education– four years at Hafren School and thirteen at Pengloddfa, where her children’s choir won first prize at the Powys Eisteddfod in Newtown. She has been the accompanist with the choir since 1989 and has also accompanied many soloists.
Gill Owen: Accompanist:

Gill is a Renal Sister at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and plays the piano as a hobby. She started playing at the age of seven, and has been Assistant Accompanist for the choir for the past 7.1/2 years. She is married with two children.
